TANAPTatra national park

The oldest and most visited national park in Slovakia, established in 1949, with the highest peak of Slovakia - Gerlachovský Peak 2655 m a.s.l.

Fauna and flora in the High Tatras

The most important symbol of the High Tatras is the chamois, marmot and golden eagle, but you can find here also the brown bear, wolf or lynx, in comparison to the Alps. All mentioned animals can be seen in full size in the museum of TANAP in Tatranská Lomnica.

There is also a botanical garden – exposition of the Tatra nature in Tatranská Lomnica, spread on an area of 3.2 hectares, where the visitor can see around 270 species of Tatra plants.

Fans of the history will be attracted by Podtatranské museum in Poprad and its exposition “Gánovce – environment of the Neanderthal man”, which is the only exposition in Slovakia where the visitor can get to know the Neanderthal man living in the area under the High Tatras 120 000 – 80 000 years ago, thanks to the exhibits.

The neighbourhood of the High Tatras is rich in historical and cultural sights many of which are listed within the cultural heritage of UNESCO. For example Spišská chapel, historical towns Kežmarok and Levoča, museum Pribylina, the biggest wooden church in the world in  Sv. Kríž, the highest wooden altar in the world in the temple of St. Jacob in Levoča and the church of the Holy Ghost in Žehra.

Further ones are Spiš castle, castle of Ľubovňa and its open-air museum, which will bring you to past times of fairy tales.

National parks in the neighbourhood

Within a radius of 50 km from the hotel, there are other four national parks that are worth discovering: Pieniny, Slovak Paradise, Low Tatras and National Park High Tatras – Poland.

There are more than 5000 caves and 1500 thermal springs in Slovakia. Within a reachable distance, a 1-hour drive from our hotel, there is Belianska cave, Dobšinská ice cave, Važecká cave, Demänovská ice cave, Demänovská cave of freedom.

Lomnický Peak (2634 m a.s.l.)

A journey with a cable car to Lomnický Peak belongs to unforgettable experiences, together with the visit of the highest placed café Dedo and a night spent on the summit. The cable car operates all year round from Tatranská Lomnica.

Skiing in the Tatras

Centres in the High and Low Tatras offer more than 50 kilometres of ski slopes, a modern infrastructure, a network of restaurants, ski rental and a ski school. The largest of them is the centre of Tatranská Lomnica, only a few minutes far from the hotel.

The High Tatras offer around 600 kilometres of paths for tourist and cyclists, meant for not very experienced but also the most demanding hikers.

Alpine chalets

If you walk in the Tatras, you should not leave out a visit in an alpine chalet. There are several of them in the High Tatras, best accessible ones are Bilíkova and Rainerova chalets, where you can get from Hrebienok – the final station of the funicular railway that starts in Starý Smokovec.

The highest placed chalet is Chalet under Rysy (2250 m. a.s.l.). You can start your ascent at Popradské pleso (tarn).

A unique experience of the atmosphere of the Tatra nature is offered by Štrbské tarn whose beauties as well as beauties of the environment can be admired from stylish wooden boats.

Thermal aquaparks

Nearby the hotel, there are 5 thermal aqua-parks offering all-day or evening amusement. There are Aquacity Poprad, Tatralandia in Liptovský Mikuláš, Bešeňová, Vyšné Ružbachy and Vrbov.

Golf resort „Black Stork“

Nearby our hotel, there are 2 golf courses. The largest golf resort in Slovakia with 18 + 9 holes can be found only 6 kilometres far from our hotel.

Training facilities

Nearby our hotel, there are football pitches that may be at disposal for our guests, if needed.
